After nearly three years we finally managed to sort our diaries out and take dad down to cornwall.
We always used to go down to cornwall every year for two or three weeks in the caravan, we used to tour all over but dads favourite (and ours) was sennen. Its right at the tip of cornwall only about three miles from lands end.
So on Monday evening, me, mum, chris and jess took dad up onto the cliffs just above sennen and found his favourite little spot. It's near a viewing point looking towards lands end and the light house, the weather was fantastic and the sunset was amazing. A very special and also sad moment for us all.
Chris did the honours and scattered dads ashes out into the sea.
I know its taken some time to bring him down here but it finally felt right and we wanted somewhere which was happy and not over some roses in the crematorium garden. I would rather have dad in a place which he really loved and also brought us happy memories of our holidays down there.
Here's some pictures I took of the amazing views just before we scattered dads ashes.

Cornwall - "Faulty" Towers Hotel
We booked this hotel in penzance through laterooms.com and we're struggling to find any hotels available so we had to settle with this one. It looked fine on the pics but it was like stepping back in time to the 1950's! The bedroom had'nt been decorated since buddy holiday died in a plane crash. The bathroom was a pain too as it was our bathroom but seperate from the bedroom. Mum was'nt impressed about scampering across the hall in her nightie - luckily i was'nt sleeping commando!!
Sadly forgot to get some pics of the hotel, so here's mum and me in penzance enjoying the view of st michaels mount (trust me it is there in the distance...)

Cornwall - Eden Project
As we had some time spare we stopped off at the Eden Project near St Austell for bit of a nosy.
Mums been there about three times (first time when they were building it and the second and third times when the plants were getting established)
It's an amazing structure set in a disused quarry and the domes are surreal as they just appear out of the countryside. There are exhbits outside but the main attractions are the two biodomes, one contains a meditteranean climate the other a tropical / rainforest atmosphere.
My favourite was the tropics - it was boiling in there and the humidity is so high they have cool boxes to stand in. Steve would have been in his element there with all the plants and palms. One of the plants we have on our coffee table at home was there, within the biodome it was at least 10metres high!!! A big bugger!
By now me and mum were wilting so we escaped and fed our faces with some din din and then spent too much in the plant shop. i think we both have plant addictions...

Cornwall and Dads Ashes
It's taken us a few years but we're finally all going down to cornwall to scatter dads ashes.
Chris and Jess are at a wedding down there so it was an idea opportunityh for me to whisk mum down their too. I looked into getting the train down and it was going to take 10hrs and cost £120 each!!!! Flights down to newquay we're £120 each too??!?!
Therefore i'm driving down with mum in tow. We're stopping at a Travelodge in Oakhampton at a bargain rate of £26 for the room. Then on the monday head straight down to our hotel in penzance.
It's going to be a bit weird driving down with dad in the boot??!! hopefully he won't be keeping an eye on my speed!
We always used to go down to cornwall every year and dad loved sennen. It's only about three miles from lands end and the beach at sennen is fab.
So, we've decided to scatter his ashes on a coastal walk between sennen and lands end. Lands ends a bit tacky now as its a bit commercialised.
Aparently you're supposed to have permisison to scatter them but what the hell. We'll have to do a great escape and distribute them down out trouser legs!
Mums put some ashes in her acer tree at home and the rest will be over his favourite place.
I'll take some pics of the view and pop them on here later.
In the meantime here's few pics of the area, where we'll be doing it.

Steve's still in canada
God i'm pathetic, i haven't seen steve for two weeks - its not good. I wished we planned it a bit better and i wish i had a few pennies so i could have gone out to vancouver for the last week. But hey ho!
Anyway he's back in a week but i still won't see him for another ten days as he's doing the rounds in portsmouth and the isle of wight seeing the relatives.
i tried to tempt him back up earlier with a cheap flight from southampton to leeds bradford for only £30. no luck though.
AussieBum a Very Special Place!
Just bought some new swimming trunks for my hols when we go to spain in a few weeks. Aussiebum has a great website and ships them from oz for a dirt cheap price.
The added bonus is the eye candy on the website, while steve's away i'm drifting off to a very special place!
Here's a little teaser!!! Sigh!
