A the joys of christmas

So far so good at the panto, no major problems yet apart from a gaggle of children all being sick at the same time - nice!

The 3D stuff is going really well its better watching the audience reaction when the spider flies out at them.

Anyway here's a preview of one of steves christmas presents, he's seen it already so it does'nt matter.

Also had a big day on Wednesday 20th. can't go too much into to it but things should start getting better for me from know on.... don't worry i'm not on deaths door!

It's like steeping into the unknown as i said above it will be better for me in the long run but a little pain and hassle has to endure for an odd year or two.

Happy christmas everyone!

New Years Eve 06/07 Shaken Stirred and hopefully Sozzled!

Steve's more of a Christmas person, i'm more of a new years eve person hence we're pulling out all the stops for New Years Eve in salubrious Saltaire this year!

Last year it was grass skirts and coconut bras. this year at myrtle mansion we're having a more glamourous james bond casino royale theme.

I've been buying all the tat you can think of... glitter curtains, silver balloons, five mirror balls and spot lights, roulette wheel, flashing lights dodgy party music, kareoke and most importantly champagne, bacon sandwiches and fireworks at midnight

Watch this space for the pictures in a few weeks time!

Money Money Money!

My jobs getting weirder and weirder, last week i was wrestling around at work on the floor with a bloke in stocking and suspenders!

This week it gets even stranger...

Monday night we had opening night of the Merchants of Bollywood at St George's Hall. It's a bollywood musical which has been squeezed into St G's and is going down a storm.

About 20 minutes from the end of the show i had a call that a man had thrown some money at the stage. (I was thinking coins and drunks in the audience), as i was going up to investigate i heard a call over the radio that one of my guys was having a heated argument with a customers.

It turns out that a drunken bloke had thrown £500 worth of £10 notes off the dress circle and into the stalls below!!!

By now people were scrabbling around trying to get the money! He then threw another few hundred quid off the DC... at the end we only managed to get £120 back to the owner... This jobs just gets stranger!

Rocky Horror @ St G's

Well well well, what an entertaining week i've had at St G's this week.

We've had the rocky horror show on for the full week. It's the first time we've had such a product at george's and it worked really really well, i think the atmopshere was better than the alhambra. Whats more we sold more tickets too. over 8000!!!

The picture is of steve and steph at the aftershow party on friday night. it was about 2.00am so they're are looking a bit worse for wear. Steve looked more like a rough hooker from thornton road!

99.9% of the audience have been great. Good laugh and very friendly, but there's always one...

Friday night i had a run in with a customer, (can't go into it touch much i'm afraid). Lets just say he deserved to be taken away by the police. He got his come up ance as he was bundle into the back of the police car wearing red stillettos, stockings and a delighful basque.....
the police were pissing themselves laughing!!!

need i say more :0)

A Horrible Horrible Addict!

How can a tetris style game with fluffy knitted creatures get horribly addictive??

This is all down to Box Office, its their fault they sent me the link to this game and the rest is history...

Basically it's a tetris style game, where you have to match up three characters.to move to the next level you need to remove all the tiles with blue background...

Trust me, have a play and you'll see what i mean!!!

Steve's Exhibition Preview

Last sunday me and steph went along to steve's preview afternoon at the Bossa Nova Restaurant just outside Saltaire.

Steve, Leila and another guy were exhibiting their work in this restaurant and me and steph went along to give moral support and hoped a few people would buy his pictures.

Good news was that steve sold three pictures and me and steph had a fab time getting sozzled on pinot grigio in the corner of the restaurant!

Steph had more fun than others that day....

Three Musketeers - Bradford Alhambra

Me and steve met up with sue and frank for a bit of culture at the alhambra on saturday.

We went to see NBT's production of the Three Musketeers.

We really enjoyed the perf the costumes and set were great, the dancing sometimes was a bit out of sync but the dancers played their characters brilliantly.

It was a bit of a busmans holiday for me as i was spying on my staff!!! My neck was playing up all through the performance.... i'm getting old and falling to pieces!

We still prefer NBT's Madame Butterfly, we cried like girls at the end!!!!

Ghost and Ghoulies!

We like our parties!

That why on the 28th of this month we're having a big bugger of a halloween party.

As usual steve has issues with inviting people and has asked about one hundred people with space for about 25...

Just starting buying ghoulie tat at asda and tesco. So far on the list is 15 witch hats...

I'm planning to be a dirty devil.... no comments thank you!

BackYard Winners Fight!!!!

There was a face off at the back passage winners party last night.

Kate (last years backyard winner) was very reluctant to give up the egg cup sized cup to the 2006 winners Mr b and Mr t!!!

The back yard was officially opened with the cutting of the ribbon, champagne, more alcohol and partying til three!!!!

Javea Hols 2

a few more pics!

Javea Hols

Me, steve, steph and lorenz went to javea for sun sea sand and sangria!

We stayed at a villa which was owned by one of stephs friends. Javea is about 20 miles north of benidorm and thats where the similarity ends. Not benidorm rabble here!

here's a few pics:

Back Passage Victory!!!

Hurrah just back from our holidays and we've just found out we've won the best backyard competition in Saltaire. It's not the taking part that counts its the winning.

We picked up the £60 prize and trophy today, the trophy is the same size as an egg cup... not very becoming of a true winner!

This saturday night we're having a party with the winnings and we're officially opening steve's back passage with a ribbon and a few queens!!!!

We're waiting for Homes&Gardens and Hello magazine to interview us....

Yeah victory!

Cornwall - Scattering Dads Ashes

After nearly three years we finally managed to sort our diaries out and take dad down to cornwall.

We always used to go down to cornwall every year for two or three weeks in the caravan, we used to tour all over but dads favourite (and ours) was sennen. Its right at the tip of cornwall only about three miles from lands end.

So on Monday evening, me, mum, chris and jess took dad up onto the cliffs just above sennen and found his favourite little spot. It's near a viewing point looking towards lands end and the light house, the weather was fantastic and the sunset was amazing. A very special and also sad moment for us all.

Chris did the honours and scattered dads ashes out into the sea.

I know its taken some time to bring him down here but it finally felt right and we wanted somewhere which was happy and not over some roses in the crematorium garden. I would rather have dad in a place which he really loved and also brought us happy memories of our holidays down there.

Here's some pictures I took of the amazing views just before we scattered dads ashes.

Rich x

Cornwall - "Faulty" Towers Hotel

We booked this hotel in penzance through laterooms.com and we're struggling to find any hotels available so we had to settle with this one. It looked fine on the pics but it was like stepping back in time to the 1950's! The bedroom had'nt been decorated since buddy holiday died in a plane crash. The bathroom was a pain too as it was our bathroom but seperate from the bedroom. Mum was'nt impressed about scampering across the hall in her nightie - luckily i was'nt sleeping commando!!

Sadly forgot to get some pics of the hotel, so here's mum and me in penzance enjoying the view of st michaels mount (trust me it is there in the distance...)

Cornwall - Eden Project

As we had some time spare we stopped off at the Eden Project near St Austell for bit of a nosy.

Mums been there about three times (first time when they were building it and the second and third times when the plants were getting established)

It's an amazing structure set in a disused quarry and the domes are surreal as they just appear out of the countryside. There are exhbits outside but the main attractions are the two biodomes, one contains a meditteranean climate the other a tropical / rainforest atmosphere.

My favourite was the tropics - it was boiling in there and the humidity is so high they have cool boxes to stand in. Steve would have been in his element there with all the plants and palms. One of the plants we have on our coffee table at home was there, within the biodome it was at least 10metres high!!! A big bugger!

By now me and mum were wilting so we escaped and fed our faces with some din din and then spent too much in the plant shop. i think we both have plant addictions...

here's some pics

Cornwall and Dads Ashes

It's taken us a few years but we're finally all going down to cornwall to scatter dads ashes.

Chris and Jess are at a wedding down there so it was an idea opportunityh for me to whisk mum down their too. I looked into getting the train down and it was going to take 10hrs and cost £120 each!!!! Flights down to newquay we're £120 each too??!?!

Therefore i'm driving down with mum in tow. We're stopping at a Travelodge in Oakhampton at a bargain rate of £26 for the room. Then on the monday head straight down to our hotel in penzance.

It's going to be a bit weird driving down with dad in the boot??!! hopefully he won't be keeping an eye on my speed!

We always used to go down to cornwall every year and dad loved sennen. It's only about three miles from lands end and the beach at sennen is fab.

So, we've decided to scatter his ashes on a coastal walk between sennen and lands end. Lands ends a bit tacky now as its a bit commercialised.

Aparently you're supposed to have permisison to scatter them but what the hell. We'll have to do a great escape and distribute them down out trouser legs!

Mums put some ashes in her acer tree at home and the rest will be over his favourite place.

I'll take some pics of the view and pop them on here later.

In the meantime here's few pics of the area, where we'll be doing it.

Steve's still in canada

God i'm pathetic, i haven't seen steve for two weeks - its not good. I wished we planned it a bit better and i wish i had a few pennies so i could have gone out to vancouver for the last week. But hey ho!

Anyway he's back in a week but i still won't see him for another ten days as he's doing the rounds in portsmouth and the isle of wight seeing the relatives.

i tried to tempt him back up earlier with a cheap flight from southampton to leeds bradford for only £30. no luck though.

AussieBum a Very Special Place!

Just bought some new swimming trunks for my hols when we go to spain in a few weeks. Aussiebum has a great website and ships them from oz for a dirt cheap price.

The added bonus is the eye candy on the website, while steve's away i'm drifting off to a very special place!

Here's a little teaser!!! Sigh!

Pug Love!

Me still mopping around counting the days til steve gets back from vancouver.

Well i'm sure this little present will cheer him up when he gets back.

When in amsterdam last week I bought pug money box with added purple scarf... very special, very classy, very camp!!!

Saltaire Best Back Passage Update!

Every year saltaire has a best backyard competition and last year me and steve entered along with the rest of our rabble. we lost, kate and ben won. We were very bittered and twisted at losing out to a cheap tin cup!

Anyway, we've improved the garden so its bigger and better this year (see below for pics).

The closing date was the 21st July and the judges have been spied up steph backpassage!! She's was even more suprised as she did'nt even enter...

Just waiting for the results next week, fingers crossed!!!!!
